Swipe Right on Fate is about Naomi, a wolf shifter who can’t shift, and Rowan, an albino vampire, both of whom are outcasts in their community and have had little luck in love. It’s a first-person, dual POV, where it swaps back and forth between the two leads.

They both decide to try to branch out and use human dating apps to try to find love since they are shunned in their own pack and coven. The two of them end up matching, and both try their best to hide the fact that they aren’t human from the other, but since neither has much experience with regular modern-day humans, they both act a bit weird with each other.

Naomi eventually gets busted when her asshats for brothers decide to crash her date, and the eldest shifts in front of them in the parking lot, and she cusses him out. Naomi then realizes Rowan saw everything and is worried he’s freaking out, only to find him laughing his ass off, and he admits that he’s a vampire.

The remainder of the book was pretty uneventful, with a showdown with the people who treated them like crap. This was very much a slice of life/cozy story. Honestly, the last 20% of the book was interesting; it definitely felt like it could have been condensed into a short epilogue.

One thing about “Roxie Ray” is that it’s a pseudonym for multiple authors who work together, so the writing styles can change from book to book.

The thing I liked most about this book was that both characters, when in first person, had very different tones/voices. You could clearly tell whose chapter it was based on the writing style. Rowan had a bit more early 20th-century-sounding style, while Naomi’s was more modern.

In the end, though, I preferred the last Roxie Ray book I read more (The Cuddle Clause).

I’d give this 3.5 stars out of 5. Wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything I’d go out of my way to recommend heartily to friends.
