Oops I Hexed Him Again is a dual POV paranormal romance between former Warlock Malcolm and hedge witch Calli. Malcolm had given up his magic years ago after a broom-flying accident made him scared of his powers. His father expects Malcolm to follow his destiny and join the Salem leadership on the council, and after an argument with his father, Malcolm accidentally portals himself to Moonstone Falls – a safe haven for the supernatural. He lands right on top of Calli’s prize pumpkin patch just before setting it on fire with his unpredictable powers.
This is pretty close to love at first sight for Calli and Malcolm, which had me wondering at first where the build-up was going to be. It was clear very early on that they were fated mates or witch-locked, as it’s called in the book. I thought it was going to be a somewhat predictable standalone romance, but it surprised me a couple of times.
It was an overall pleasant read, and it apparently is within the same universe as a few other novels by Lauren Smith, and I might check out some of the others.
I got this as an ARC on BookSirens since I liked the artwork and title of the book, and I’d recommend it as a cozy and somewhat spicy read around Halloween since it takes place around then. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
