Trixie and Chris have been friends since grade school, and that is also about how long Chris has been in love with Trixie, the girl next door. Trixie is painfully unaware of his feelings and genuinely just sees him as a friend, mostly because she feels like he is so out of her league that it never even dawned on her that there was ever a possibility of them being more than friends.

You see, Chris is a hotshot Pro Football Quarterback who comes from a family of famous football players. He’s hot, athletic, smart, and rich, and Trixie is a cute, curvy virgin librarian. It’s not like she wanted to still be a virgin at 28 years old, but her exes all seemed to focus on the fact that her mother was a famous adult film star and expected Trixie to be the same. The moment her mother came up in her relationships, she’d check out very quickly, which led to almost all her ex-boyfriends thinking she was a prude.

I enjoyed this low-stakes sports romance where the characters felt pretty real, and it was completely fair that Trixie was hesitant about her sex life because of the guys she had dated in the past. Also, Chris and his brother made a bet that Chris could get Trixie to fall for him just by trying, but unlike other “bet” tropes, this one didn’t give off creepy vibes or cause huge drama or fallout once it was brought up.

There were still some unrealistic things that generally don’t happen in real life, but none were completely insane to take you out of the story like so many other contemporary romances.

I’d give it 4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and 4 Raccoons 🦝🦝🦝🦝
