This month is going to be hard on my TBR. There are just so many books I am interested in checking out, including several sequels to titles I’m highly anticipating and have definitely pre-ordered.

Don’t get this confused with the OTHER Mortal Trials that was released in July by Megan Shunmugam. Very different books even if they both include deadly trials. This one interested me because the cover is gorgeous, but also there are meddling gods, which is always a good time (for me, not the characters).

“In a game of gods… If you win, you lose. If you lose, you die.”

I’m always a fan of Dark Academia Romances, but I saw it also included Irish Folklore and 90s nostalgia as well, so that sold it for me. This is the first book in a new series.

“The first in a haunting dark academia romance series about a graduate student studying botany in Dublin who falls for her professor of morbid anatomy, as they are drawn into a deadly plague threatening their world—perfect for fans of Ninth House and An Academy for Liars.”

I have been waiting what seems like FOREVER for this book. I first read Spark of the Everflame probably close to 3 years ago and devoured the next two books only to have to wait until now for the final book. I have most definitely pre-ordered this one, but I’m gonna have to probably re-listen to the audiobooks to remember where we’re at in the story.

“The highly anticipated never-before-published final book in the Kindred’s Curse Saga, a slow-burn, epic romantasy series following one woman who must risk everything to save her family—and all of mortalkind.”

With Practical Magic 2 coming out soon, this Mystery Horror with a secret society of witches is perfect to get you in the mood for PM2. Alice Hoffman is a genius at the Occult and Witch genre. There is a chance this will be an option on Book of the Month, so I’m waiting to order this until I can confirm if it’s there or not.

“The brand-new series from the bestselling author of Practical Magic, following two brilliant young women in 1950s Cambridge, Massachusetts, as they become immersed in a mysterious secret group of witches at Radcliffe known as the Lilith Society.”

I had to throw some Literary Fiction on this list. This is another that might be in Book of the Month, and I feel like it could be one of those crying ugly tears with laugh-out-loud moments due to culture shock and grief of losing a loved one.

“From R.F. Kuang, the acclaimed #1 New York Times bestselling author of Katabasis and Yellowface, comes a wryly humorous and profoundly moving coming-of-age novel that grapples with grief, language, and culture shock—all set against the backdrop of an unforgettable summer in Taipei.”

I’m a fan of Leia Stone. I loved her Wolf Girl series, and she’s someone I follow on social media to find out when she has new books coming out. She’s one of the Indie Authors I always recommend to people. This is something I pre-ordered, and I feel like it will get me into the Buffy vibes for when Cursed City comes out later in the month.

“Perfect for fans of Vampire Academy, Buffy and House of Night, this twisty, slow-burn supernatural romance will keep you guessing until the very last page.”

Another Indie author that came on my radar this month with this Beauty and the Beast retelling. Gotta love a monster romance with enemies to lovers and demons. This is one I’ll check out on Kindle Unlimited for sure!

“She stole his life. Now he’ll steal her soul.”

This Cozy Fantasy Romance seems perfect for a crisp fall day with a cup of cocoa and a fuzzy blanket. Too bad that won’t happen for a bit yet, but I’ll be checking it out once Fall weather hits us for real.

“She’s a witch who can’t fall in love without getting her heart broken. He holds a grudge like no other.”

A contemporary romance with a dash of fantasy courtesy of a D&D campaign. I’m curious how this will play out with the description of the book and will be checking it out ASAP!

Sparks fly as two former college rivals are forced together for a new D&D campaign—clashing both in and out of the game—in this fusion of contemporary second-chance romance and fantasy from the author of Roll for Romance.

Stay tuned for the next batch of book releases for September 15th! This month is going to kill my bank account; I can tell already! At least some of them will be available on Kindle Unlimited, which is a great way to continue to support authors since they get paid per page that is read.
