Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook is book 3 of the Dungeon Crawl Carl series, where Carl and Princess Donut make it to the 4th level, and they finally find out who’s in the top 10. This is definitely one of the more complicated levels because they have to traverse one of the most complicated subway/train systems created in the universe, all while trying to stay alive with bounties on their heads and monsters everywhere.
Even with multiple explanations its pretty hard to get your head wrapped around the level. This is also where you really start getting to know other crawls a lot more – the good and the bad. A few bad apples start emerging from the pack, but it never stops Carl from trying to work with all crawlers as a team to keep as many alive as possible with open communications and teamwork.
The chaos never stops in this series, but I really love that Carl, along with other people (not all of course), are trying to stay alive while also trying their best to keep their humanity intact.
You’re also introduced to a prize that only Carl gets, that everyone views as a useless book – the Anarchist’s Cookbook, which gives him a bunch of forbidden knowledge that he tries his best to hide. It’s written by previous crawlers and includes their thoughts, recipes, and knowledge of the games.
For me, the series just gets better and better. I read this in less than two days, and that was just because I had to work.
Another 5 raccoon, 5 star read for me.
