The Shadows that Listen is a Dystopian Romance series starter with Angels and Demons. It takes place five years after portals from Hell opened up across the globe and Angels descended from the Heavens to wage war against each other. Unfortunately for the people of Earth, they were caught in the crossfire.
The story follows Amara, a human working for the Angel Intelligence Agency, who breaks curfew when her boyfriend Jeremy goes missing in an attempt to find him.
She manages to recruit Nathaniel, the archangel in charge of the Angel invasion, who is technically her enemy, but demons are the enemy to both of them.
It’s a slow-burn romance, filled with mystery, twists, and will suck you right into the story.
So, this one is one of my Six Star out of Five Star books of the year. This was so freaking good. I did mostly guess the twists at the end, but since there are multiple twists, I didn’t guess them all. The build-up was awesome, and I honestly love the Supernatural vibes I got with the Angels being nearly as big of jerks as the Demons.
