The story follows Jessica, a late-presenting omega fleeing an abusive ex. She returns to her hometown to find four Alphas from her past ready to claim her. While the concept was intriguing, the execution felt like an unedited draft.
Inconsistent Timelines: The timeline is a mess. References to how long characters have known each other shift constantly, and internal logic, like multiple people making lasagna from scratch in five days (seriously, who makes lasagna 3 times in one week!?) or characters “teleporting”, break the immersion.
Repetitive Conversations: Jessica has the exact same breakthrough conversations with the MMCs multiple times. Despite supposedly reaching an understanding, the characters seem to reset to zero in every new chapter.
Sloppy POV Handling: The first-person perspective is inconsistent. Chapters dedicated to one character frequently slip into another character’s first-person voice without warning.
Pacing Issues: The main plot wraps up at the 66% mark. The final third of the book feels unnecessary and could have been condensed into a short epilogue.
Rating: 2/5 Stars
This could have been a solid omegaverse novel, but the lack of editing and structural inconsistencies make it a frustrating read. The ONLY reason it got 2 stars and not 1 is that I finished the book. I generally keep my DNF as 1 stars, but this was a close one.
