The Mistake is book 2 of the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy.
It picks up soon after book 1, with Logan pining after Hannah. It’s to the point where he is almost avoiding her completely because Hannah is with his best friend Garrett and their relationship isn’t going anywhere. He tries to fill the void with lots of meaningless hookups.
Grace, on the other hand, is as pure as freshly fallen snow. She runs into Logan right after he hooks up with someone else at a party, and then later on he accidentally shows up at her room while looking for a friend’s dorm room. When Logan realizes he doesn’t know where his friend’s dorm is and he doesn’t have his phone to reach out, he asks to borrow Grace’s only to realize he also doesn’t know anyone’s phone number. They get to talking and end up watching a movie together in her room and fooling around.
From there, they keep running into each other, and eventually Logan messes up the whole budding relationship when he confesses he has feelings for someone else (Hannah) and implies Grace is just a distraction for him to get over Hannah. This is the big “Mistake” of the book. He realizes after a heart-to-heart with Hannah that he doesn’t want her; he wants the type of relationship she and Garrett have. However, it’s too little too late for Grace to forgive him before the end of the year. The remainder of the book is Logan trying to win Grace back.
I really like so far in this series that the main characters in book 1 and book 2 actually feel like completely different people. So many romance books tend to use the same formula when doing multiple books in a series, and both The Deal and The Mistake are distinct and standalone stories on their own.
