Sunrise on the Reaping is the fifth book in the Hunger Games Series. This is Haymitch’s story of the 50th annual Hunger Games. I ate this book up in literally a day. Yes, it’s technically YA, but if you are a fan of the Hunger Games, you will love this book.
It gives so much background on Haymitch and who he is and why he is the way he is. This is probably the saddest of all the books because he went through some shit. He wasn’t even originally chosen to participate, but when he tries to step in to help in a riot, he gets chosen to fill a suddenly open slot.
His whole reason for surviving is the love of his life, Lenore, whose life is at risk, even though she is not even participating in the games.
This honestly is my current favorite of the whole Hunger Games franchise, and I’m glad I didn’t read it in public because I ugly cried a few times while reading it.
I highly recommend it overall. 5 out of 5 stars!
