Book Review: Feathers So Vicious by Liv Zander

Starting off, I read Feathers so Vicious and Shadows So Cruel (Court of Ravens Duology) back to back, so this is really a review of both. I will keep spoilers to a minimum.

Both books are VERY dark romance, and if you have any triggers about violence, abuse, or assault, steer clear! Normally, dark romance is not my cup of tea, however the story and writing were so top notch I was sucked in, nevertheless.

I was shocked at times when it “went there” with the plot. No one really had plot armor to avoid horrible things happening to them.

The story is a multi-POV first-person, following Galantia, Malyr, and Sebian – a daughter of a lord and two very morally grey (almost black) raven shifters.

I probably loved the magic behind the raven shifters. So often shifters only shift into one animal, but in this world, they shift into 5 ravens, one primal, one that contains their magic, and a few others. They can live without all but the primal, and they can live without their magic, but they won’t be able to bond with a mate.

The three main characters are all very damaged people, and Galantia is technically their enemy captive.

The twists were twisty, the romance was questionable (the characters frequently question it themselves), and the dark was utter darkness. If you enjoy dark romance, you would like this. If you don’t enjoy dark romance, this might be a bit too intense for you.

It was a 5-star read for me.
